“We had four restaurants open downtown recently that have created an enormous level of excitement,” Wilmette Village President Bob Bielinski said. “Do you think opening four dentist offices would have created that same level of excitement?” Earlier this year, the village’s zoning board of appeals had recommended officials approve Waterloo’s request, suggesting the dental practice would “add vibrancy to the downtown,” and would not hinder future growth of new restaurants and retail establishments.
